DescriptionWhen people see a computer-graphical visualization of some sort of science data, how can they know - how can visualization creators help them know - what is the basis underlying what they see? What are the data sources, representation conventions, what's represented faithfully or exaggerated or omitted? If you think of a visualization as being a sort of map, then where's the key? Do graphics practitioners, or educators, or people involved in public outreach, or ... see this as a need? (I hope so!) How is it being done well?
