DescriptionAdvances in augmented and virtual reality have paved the way for a new type of user interface that can connect users remotely via spatial interactions: the metaverse.

However, to fully unlock the potential of the metaverse several challenges need to be solved. In this workshop we take a deep dive, with the help of our expert panelists, into some of these roadblocks, including: (1) integrating haptic sensations in the metaverse (Prof. Pedro Lopes & Shan-Yuan Teng); (2) integrating gaze and attention in user interfaces for metaverse (Yudai Tanaka & Prof. Mark Billinghurst); and (3) accelerating the prototyping of metaverse experiences (Prof. Michael Nebeling).

In this workshop, you will have a chance to learn more about these topics, share your experiences, connect with experts in the field, and network opportunities to explore these topics and other metaverse-related ideas with academics and industry. There is no required background for this workshop except a deep interest in VR/AR/haptics/graphics and the metaverse.
