DescriptionThis course describes the next-generation transformations to Pixar’s simulator that improve its speed, robustness, and generality. These have been presented piecemeal at several venues, but we provide a unified treatment that should interest students, researchers and practitioners. We also provide an open-source C++ implementation of many of the algorithms.
Prerequisites The intended audience is graduate students, researchers, and practitioners who are interested in physics-based simulation. More broadly, anybody who is interested in seeing an idea go from initial research formulation, to production code, to images that appear on the movie screen, should be able to 8nd something worthwhile in this course.
Intended Audience Experience with linear algebra is a must, and some previous experience in physics-based simulation is helpful. However, a short introduction will be provided at the beginning, because the formulations we use differ from the conventional ones.
