A no-hype introduction to the concepts and building blocks for the open metaverse, covering the current state and potential future directions, including 3D-first computing, interoperability, game engine ecosystems, the evolution of content creation, scaling users and worlds, and interoperability. The themes of openness and collaboration are woven throughout all topics.
Prerequisites Builders from all backgrounds, including software developers, technical artists, product managers, and managers, who want to learn about the metaverse beyond the hype with an emphasis on technical topics in graphics and interoperability that are fundamental to an open metaverse.
Intended Audience Basic knowledge of computer graphics, software development, and 3D formats will be helpful for attendees. Bonus if attendees have hands-on experience with any game engines, content creation tools, or playing any metaverse games such as Fortnite or Roblox.
