DescriptionEnergetically Consistent Inelasticity (ECI) is a new formulation for modeling and discretizing finite strain elastoplasticity/viscoelasticity. It is compatible with optimization-based time integrators by implicitly integrating plasticity through an augmented strain energy density function. The resulting scheme can be integrated into both the finite element method and the material point method.
