Peter Canning is an Emmy Winning Lighting Designer and Founder of High Res, based in Dublin. He is a
graduate of Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, London, where
he majored in television lighting. He works extensively as a Lighting Designer &
Virtual Production consultant in Ireland and internationally.

Formed by Peter in 1997 High Res quickly became a full service lighting design
company providing services to Major Broadcast, Live Events, Municipal Authorities, Architects, Festivals, National Event committees and private installations. With extensive lighting experience and a
highly regarded portfolio Peter expanded the company and services to include the
use of projection mapping, coordinating lighting and video systems for large live
and broadcast events, using LED as an interactive lighting tool in TV and film and
implementing and integrating immersive environments for Virtual Production shoots.
Peter has always been at the forefront of pioneering new technologies within the
creative industry, using his lighting background and relationship with DOP’s, Gaffers
and Directors to enter into the Virtual Production realm. With a blended mix of
lighting, projection, content and control systems, he has lit some of Ireland’s most
iconic buildings and spectacular festivals as well as delivering enhanced
environments for Apple TV’s Foundation, Netflix’ Nightflyers and Amazon Prime’s
Modern Love Series and Anansi Boys

As a Lighting Designer and Creative Director Peter has designed and delivered
large spectacle events involving lighting, projection, and video.
