Born in Nara, Japan in 1987. Experienced truancy from the 5th grade of elementary school to the 3rd grade of junior high school. In high school, he invented a new mechanism for an electric wheelchair and won the Grand Award 3rd at Intel ISEF. While a student at Waseda University, he developed an avatar robot "OriHime" for the purpose of relieving loneliness, and established Ory Laboratory Inc. in 2012. He has developed the "OriHime", the "OriHime eye+switch" communication device for ALS and other patients, the "WheeLog!" accessibility map application used by wheelchair users, and the "Avatar Robot Café," where people with bedridden people can work. He was selected by the Forbes 30 Under 30 ASIA and the Japan’s Good Design Grand Award 2021.
