Dr. Joel has been teaching Computer Science, and more specifically Computer Graphics, Computer Animation, and related subjects, since 1983. In 1986 he was a recipient of an ACM/SIGGRAPH Education Committee's Educators Award. Since then, he has been a member of SIGGRAPH's Education Committee, most recently serving as Director for its In Good Company series of talks. Dr. Joel received a doctorate in Computer and Information Sciences from Syracuse University in 1995.
