Biography
Dominik L. Michels' research interests focus on the development of principled computational methods addressing physically-based simulation in computer graphics and visual computing. This is based on fundamental work on mathematical modeling and numerical methods. Within the scope of the SIGGRAPH community, his previous work provides a portfolio of algorithms simulating the dynamics of stiff systems such as deformable bodies, fibers and textiles including damping, collision and friction effects. Furthermore, he actively contributes to fluid dynamics including the simulation of complex weather phenomena as well as magnetic fluids. He also published on the modeling and simulation of human hair.
