Scott Hessels collaborates with science organizations to create works often utilizing emerging sensing technologies. His practice results in multiple formats including kinetic sculpture, data visualization, generative animation, locative media, immersive environments and more. His projects have shown internationally in exhibitions focusing on technology and those presenting fine arts. His recognitions include patents for developed technologies, references in books on new media art, and coverage in cultural media like Wired and Discover. He’s an associate professor at The School of Creative Media in Hong Kong and executive producer of the Extreme Environments Program which organizes art/science expeditions to environmentally significant sites.
